THE EFFECT OF ASCORBIC ACID ON BLOOD HISTAMINE LEVEL AND DELAYED-TYPE HYPERSENSITIVITY IN GUINEA PIGS
The effect of ascorbic acid on blood histamine level and delayed-type hypersensitivity was studied in thirty male guinea pigs. Animals were sensitized to B.C.G., trichophytin and mallein during the first four weeks. The diet was ad libitum during this period. After this "sensitization period" animals w er e tested intradermally with tuberculin, trichophytin and mallein. The number and diam...
متن کاملDesensitization of delayed-type hypersensitivity in mice: suppressive environment
The systemic injection of high doses of antigen into a preimmunized animal results in transient unresponsiveness of cell-mediated immune responses. This phenomenon is known as desensitization. Serum interleukin 2 (IL-2) activity was found transiently in desensitized mice at 3 h after the antigen challenge. These mice could not reveal antigen nonspecific delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) 1 d a...
متن کاملIntestinal amoebiasis: delayed-type hypersensitivity response in mice.
Delayed-type hypersensitive (DTH) response was evaluated in C3H/HeJ mice intestinally infected with Entamoeba histolytica. Infected and non-infected control mice were challenged with amoebic antigen on day 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, and 60 post-infection. Maximum footpad swelling was observed after 24 hours of the challenge. The E. histolytica-infected mice exhibited a DTH response on day 5...
متن کاملfrom linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar
chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

Pertussigen, a purified protein from Bordetella pertussis, was shown to increase delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) to protein antigens in mice. First, it caused an approximately twofold enhancement of the magnitude of 24-h DTH reactions. Second, the peak magnitude of DTH was delayed to 4-7 d after challenge, at which time it was five times more intense than in mice not receiving pertussigen. ...
